Deputy Manager Supported Living & Mother and Baby Unit
Location: Halesowen, West Midlands
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum (Full-time, Permanent)
Role Overview
As Deputy Manager, you will play a key leadership role in ensuring the highest standards of care and safeguarding across both settings. Working closely with the Responsible Individual, you will support the day-to-day management of the service, provide supervision and guidance to a team of up to 6 Support Workers, and ensure compliance with regulatory and organisational standards.
This role requires a compassionate, proactive, and resilient individual with experience supporting young people facing emotional, behavioural, or social challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Responsible Individual in the operational management of the service.
- Oversee and lead a team of Support Workers, providing regular supervision, training, and mentoring.
- Ensure all care plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures are current, robust, and person-centred.
- Promote a positive, safe, and nurturing environment where young people and young parents can thrive.
- Support the development of independence, life skills, and positive parenting practices within the Mother and Baby Unit.
- Ensure full compliance with Ofsted, local authority, and internal quality standards.
- Participate in on-call and rota cover as required.
- Liaise effectively with social workers, families, external agencies, and professionals to ensure holistic care and support.
- Monitor and report on the quality of care delivery and outcomes for young people.
- Contribute to service improvement and development initiatives.
Requirements
- Minimum of Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent.
- Experience working with vulnerable young people, particularly those with emotional or behavioural challenges.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, risk management, and Ofsted regulations.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Resilience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to improving young people's lives.
- Experience in a Mother and Baby Unit or similar supported accommodation.
