HGV Driver at Bywaters

As an HGV Driver at Bywaters, you will play a crucial role in our operations, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation and disposal of waste and recycling materials. You will operate our HGV vehicles with professionalism and adherence to all relevant regulations and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate HGV vehicles safely and responsibly, transporting waste/recycling materials from specified locations to designated disposal sites, in compliance with all road safety and environmental regulations.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks as per company policy, ensuring all safety protocols are followed. Maintain accurate records of vehicle movements, fuel usage, and load details, both electronically and on paper.

• Effectively communicate with operational management to optimise transport operations and cost-effectiveness. Report any vehicle defects, incidents, or accidents to management promptly.

• Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of vehicles, including safe and secure loading practices, in line with company policies and procedures.
• Load and unload materials at collection and disposal sites.
• Participate in required training sessions to stay updated on industry regulations and enhance job performance.

Essential Skills/Attributes:

• Valid driving license suitable for the class of vehicle operated.
• Experience with digital tachographs and full driver CPC card.
• Previous experience in the waste industry and specifically with RORO vehicles preferred.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
• Strong team player with a customer-focused approach.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

• Understanding of DVSA regulations, EU drivers’ hours, and Road Transport Working Time Directive.
• Skilled in safe driving practices, vehicle maintenance, and the specific operations of HGV vehicles.
• Ability to adapt to changing schedules or routes as necessary.
