    Radiation Protection Manager - Submarines

    What you will be doing: 

    • Supporting the Radiation Protection function for Rolls-Royce Submarines Ltd and Rolls Royce plc.
    • Act as RPA to appropriate parts of the business which includes two Nuclear Licensed Sites, Rolls Royce plc plus other areas of the Submarine’s business including Industrial Radiography and work by Rolls-Royce employees on Submarine Enterprise partner sites.
    • Developing and reviewing company policy and framework arrangements covering health physics, radiation protection, dosimetry and radioactive waste management.
    • Delivering an independent programme of assurance activities against the requirements of Licence Conditions, IRR17, EPR and REPPIR, including travel to locations around the UK.
    • Providing advice and guidance to business units within Rolls-Royce to ensure that the risks associated with ionising radiation and radioactive waste are being appropriately controlled and managed.
    • Supporting the site Emergency Arrangements as an on-call Health Physics Advisor and a RADSAFE responder on a duty roster.

    Who we’re looking for:

    Essential:

    • Degree level or equivalent qualification and experience in appropriate discipline (i.e. Science, Engineering, HSE, etc.) or demonstrable experience.
    • Certificate of competence to act as Radiation Protection Adviser.
    • Experienced in the design and operation of nuclear, conventional and/or hazardous facilities within the UK.
    • Experience with nuclear site Licence Conditions and Environmental Permit conditions.
    • Experience of developing, planning, undertaking, and reporting independent oversight and assurance assessments.
    • Experience as an emergency responder on a radiological site.
    • Proven leadership skills.
    • UK Driving License.

    Desirable:

    • Certificate of competence as a Radioactive Waste Adviser.
    • Chartered Radiation Protection Professional.
