    Senior Policy and Research Officer

    Role Outline

    The Senior Policy and Research Officer will shape and drive the organisation’s policy and research agenda on domestic abuse, ensuring survivor voices are central to all outputs. This role will influence national policy, support strategic campaigns, and produce high-impact policy research to drive systemic change.

    Knowledge, experience and skills
    Essential

    • Excellent policy analysis, data analysis and research skills, with experience producing policy outputs for diverse audiences
    • Strong understanding of domestic abuse, gender-based violence, and intersectionality.
    • Confident communicator, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proven ability to manage projects, including coordinating contributors, overseeing production of reports and wider outcomes aligned with priorities
    • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
    • An interest in and commitment to the long-term success and development of Refuge.
    • Acts as a role model for the organisation.
    • Acts with integrity and shows a commitment to upholding professional standards.
    • Demonstrates a commitment to follow Refuge’s policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrates a strong commitment to Refuge’s values and principles including equality, diversity and inclusion

    Desirable

    • Experience working with survivors or people with lived experience
    • Knowledge of the law and policy landscape on violence against women and girls
    • Knowledge and experience of a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods
