    Senior Project Manager - Education

    The project: Mace has a significant track record in the education sector, working with schools, colleges, local authorities, and central government to deliver ‘landmarks for learning’ nationally with a strength of vision and concept that are sustainable, inherently flexible and able to change to meet future needs. Mace is a leading consultant for the department for education (DfE) delivering across all their principal capital programmes, including the schools re-building programme, free schools, special educational needs, further education (colleges) and institutes of technology.

    We are seeking project managers to deliver a diverse portfolio of DfE capital projects, from new builds to carbon‑reduction schemes. Working client‑side within an integrated, multidisciplinary Mace team, you will drive safe, sustainable delivery to time, cost and quality, supported by flexible working and a high‑performance culture. The roles are flexible and allow for full or part time working.

    You’ll be responsible for:

    • Ensuring robust quality systems and compliant project delivery.
    • Managing project planning from brief to construction, meeting milestones.
    • Coordinating stakeholders, advisers and procurement in line with DfE processes.
    • Managing scope, risk, budgets and approvals.
    • Overseeing reporting, legal agreements and statutory requirements.
    • Guiding consultant teams to achieve KPIs and effective handover.
    • Driving best practice, collaboration and sustainable outcomes.

    You’ll need to have:

    • Degree‑qualified, progressing towards professional membership (RICS, CIOB, APM).
    • Experienced in contract administration, ideally with NEC forms.
    • Proven delivery experience with public‑sector clients and consultancy environments.
    • Digitally adept, collaborative, and strong at building trusted client relationships.
