    Architect

    The Role:

    This is a pivotal role for a technically astute architect who thrives in the later stages of project delivery. You’ll be responsible for translating design intent into buildable solutions, coordinating with consultants and contractors, and ensuring quality and compliance on site.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead projects through RIBA Stages 2–6, ensuring technical excellence and buildability
    • Produce and oversee detailed technical drawings, specifications, and tender packages
    • Coordinate with other Ridge disciplines to resolve complex technical issues
    • Attend site meetings, respond to RFIs, and manage contractor queries
    • Mentor junior team members and contribute to internal technical reviews
    • Providing a practical and methodical approach to solving problems, working to fixed budgets and working within deadlines
    • Managing planning applications, Building Regulations
    • Develop customer relationships to find additional opportunities to address their challenges

    About You:

    • ARB-registered Architect with post-Part III experience
    • Proven track record delivering projects through Stage 4 (Technical Design) to Stage 6 (Handover)
    • Strong Revit skills and experience working in BIM Level 2 environments
    • Deep understanding of UK Building Regulations and construction detailing
    • Excellent communication and coordination skills, especially with contractors and consultants.

    To be successful in this role, you will need to be an excellent communicator who can articulate complicated issues between our clients and our highly skilled project teams. You will also need to show ambition and a willingness to learn whilst demonstrating a high level of diligence and organisational skills.

    Civil Engineering Technician

    Our team has an opportunity for a Civil Engineering Technician to join our Cardiff team to produce civil engineering drawings relating to our projects.

    We have expertise in major civil engineering projects that encompass highways design for roads, pavements, Sectional Agreements and in earthworks engineering, cut and fill assessments, remediation, underground services, flood alleviation, sustainable drainage systems, pumping stations, sewerage and external works.

    Our current workload includes a range of interesting building projects including schools and colleges, S278 highway schemes and SAB drainage schemes across the UK.

    What you need to do to be effective in this role

    • Develop highways and drainage CAD designs and drawings in 2D & 3D
    • Produce levels engineering drawings and cut and fill analysis
    • Support senior civil engineering staff with design
    • Ensure that Ridge document management and QA procedures are complied with.

    The skills and experience you need to have for this role

    • Be fully conversant in AutoCAD with civil engineering related experience
    • Experience and skills in Civil 3D, and Infodrainage would be a distinct advantage
    • Previous experience of below ground Civil 3D utility modelling.
    • Past experience of Highway, Drainage and Earthworks projects is important
    • Ideally experience of Keylines, keysigns and keypost with knowledge of the TSRGD
    • Knowledge of the DMRB and Manual for Streets
    • A relevant engineering qualification (e.g HNC) or equivalent

    Accounts Assistant

    Due to significant business growth, organically and through acquisitions, we are looking for an accounts assistant to oversee the processing of business expense claims, and to support the wider Finance Team as workload demands.

    Role and Responsibilities:

    Working within the Finance Team and reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager:

    Staff expense claims support:

    • Reviewing staff expense claims to ensure that:
    • The claim adheres to the business expense policy,
    • The correct coding has been applied to each claim so that the cost is correctly accounted for
    • A receipt has been provided in support of the claim
    • VAT has been correctly applied.
    • Providing oversight of claims in progress to ensure they are approved and processed with minimal delay, contacting team managers if approvals become overdue.
    • Providing feedback to staff where claims have been made in error and providing support to correct it.
    • Preparing the fortnightly payment run to ensure that all staff are paid within the business timeframes.
    • Supporting the business with queries arising and providing guidance on the policy.
    • Providing ad-hoc training to staff on how to submit claims.
    • Other tasks
    • To provide cover across the wider Finance team during peak periods and holiday cover as and when required.
    • The role will be well suited to someone who is keen to gain experience in wider finance disciplines and there will be opportunity to develop and progress within the business as it grows.

    Experience and Skills Required:

    Essential:

    • Good academic results to GCSE and preferably A-Level
    • Experience of working within an office environment undertaking administrative processes
    • A strong desire to ensure the business is supported and staff are reimbursed on time
    • A good working knowledge of Excel

    Desirable:

    • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics

    Receptionist

    We are recruiting for a Receptionist who will be an integral part of our Reading office, the successful candidate will need a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude and enthusiastic to take pride in this key position. You will be responsible for providing effective and efficient reception support. We are keen to recruit someone who is looking for longevity in a role and experienced in providing high level customer service.

    What you need to do to be effective in this role

    • First point of contact for all visitors to the office, providing an exceptional standard of service with a positive attitude.
    • Answering all incoming calls to the office.
    • Taking ownership of the reception area ensuring it is presented in a clean and tidy manner.

    • Effectively dealing with any office related questions/queries from colleagues and visitors to the office.
    • Raising invoices and assisting with debt chasing, updating contact lists and directories.
    • Printing and binding documents when needed.
    • Booking hotel accommodation for staff
    • Assist the Admin team with various ad-hoc tasks to promote a positive culture and well-presented office

    The skills and experience you need to have for this role

    • Proficient knowledge and demonstrable experience with all MS Office suite-based software including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams etc.
    • Excellent communication skills & telephone manner.
    • Well-presented with an exceptional friendly and professional approach.
    • Good at problem solving with a ‘get it done’ attitude.
    • Excellent time management skills, punctual and reliable.
    • Naturally organised with a high attention to detail.
