    Better Health & Care Hub Engagement Officer

    About the role

    • ​​King’s College London’s Better Health & Care Hub is a world-leading, cross faculty initiative to develop research and education dedicated to the transformation of health and care, in partnership, on a local, national and international scale. The Hub aims to support research and education which will radically redesign interventions, systems, and pathways to address the most pressing challenges faced by people living with complex illnesses, and the healthcare systems that support them.
    • Led by the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care (NMPC), in collaboration with the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy (SSPP) and the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), our initiative harnesses interdisciplinary expertise from across King’s College London, bolstered by strategic partnerships with NHS, social care, community, patient-led, charitable and international organisations.
    • Applications are now open for an Engagement Officer to support the engagement and communications activities of the Hub. Reporting to the Centre Manager, the role will be split between supporting the Hub’s Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) activities and supporting our Communications Manager with content creation, event delivery and implementing the Hub’s communications strategy. 
    • Focused on engaging multiple and varied audiences with the work of the Better Health & Care Hub, this role necessitates strong skills in stakeholder engagement and experience coordinating online and in person events. Candidates will need to have experience in PPIE, either through their studies or employment, and demonstrate their ability to write convincingly and create content for different audiences.
    • This role is offered as a full-time position (35 hours per week) and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 30/06/2027. 
    • Location: Hybrid – minimum of 2 days on campus (Waterloo and Denmark Hill)

    About You

    To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

    Essential criteria

    • Educated to degree level or has relevant work experience
    • An understanding of the purpose of public engagement and best practice particularly for academic research
    • Experience of building strong relationships with various stakeholders, ideally including members of the public
    • Strong writing and content creation skills
    • Strong event and meeting coordination skills (online and in person)
    • Experience of working collaboratively as part of a team
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and work to deadlines

    Desirable criteria

    • Experience of working in the higher education sector
    • Experience of delivering training in public engagement and/or patient involvement training
    • Professional qualification in communications, particularly science communication/public engagement
