    Junior Production Coordinator Apprenticeship

News Northern Ireland is committed to reaching new audiences and meeting changing audience habits with a focus on Digital content as well as continuing to deliver to audiences on linear platforms. 

    As a Junior Production Coordinator apprentice in BBC News Northern Ireland, you will be working at the very heart of the news operation - gaining experience at all stages of productions, working alongside Production Management and Editorial colleagues, and involving the planning and scheduling of staff for news and current affairs output and a whole range of production support functions. 

    This is our entry level position into production management; you will work as a Production Management Assistant, supporting our Production Managers and Production Coordinators in creating quality content for all of our output, which may include TV, audio, online, events and digital platforms.

    YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

    As a Junior Production Coordinator apprentice with BBC News Northern Ireland, this is a brilliant opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute - you may demonstrate the following: 

    • Support budget management and cost monitoring  
    • Support staff management and scheduling  
    • Assist with data and/or media management and production reporting  
    • Assist with business management practices such as co-ordinating training, travel, helping with onboarding of staff including freelancers
    • Learn best practices in production management, and BBC policies and compliance  

    On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will be able to apply for job roles such as a Production Management Assistant, Production Secretary or Production Coordinator, depending on experience both inside and outside of the BBC.

    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

    To be eligible for an apprenticeship at the BBC, you must: 

    • Be 18 years old or over by the time the apprenticeship begins in September 2026 
    • Have lived in the UK continuously for the last 3 years prior to the start of the apprenticeship 
    • Be legally eligible to work full-time in the UK for the entire duration of the apprenticeship
    • Not currently be enrolled in another apprenticeship programme, whether with the BBC or another organisation
    • For candidates under the age of 19 years at the start of the apprenticeship, you must have achieved Maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above or National 5 (Scotland) at C or Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent qualification. If you have not achieved these qualifications, you will be required to achieve Functional Skills Level 2 before the end of your apprenticeship when you take your end-point assessment
