    Procurement Officer

    As a Procurement Officer, you will lead and support services, across various directorates, throughout the procurement process for a range of projects. This will involve the management of your own portfolio of concurrent projects and working closely with Commissioners, Contract Managers and Project Managers across the Council.

    We’re looking for people who:

    • can manage a portfolio of concurrent projects
    • can provide expert procurement advice in line with the relevant procurement legislation, such as the Procurement Act 2023
    • think critically and intuitively, when working with services to solve procurement challenges and achieve the right outcomes
    • can communicate clearly to various stakeholders
    • works effectively as part of a team
    • can work adaptively around changing demands and needs

    About the Candidate
    Essential requirements for the role:  

    • Communication skills: Good literacy and numeracy skills to undertake calculations and produce letters and other documentation.
    • Analytical Skills: Ability to engage with stakeholders to identify information needs and to know how to go about obtaining the relevant information.
    • Planning and Organising:  Demonstrate the ability to organise multiple tasks in the most effective way, and allocate time and energy according to task complexity and priority.
    • Problem Solving and Decision Making:  Is able to make effective decisions on a day-to-day basis, taking ownership of decisions, demonstrating sound judgement in escalating issues where necessary. Be logical in thinking and explain reasoning behind decisions or actions taken.
    • Project Management: Takes responsibility for allocated project tasks and delivers these efficiently. 
    • IT Skills: Skills to use ICT systems to obtain and analyse data and present it effectively through a variety of ICT channels.
    • Commercial Skills: Ability to collect and report on supplier performance data and apply procurement processes to procurement situations.
    • A knowledge of Procurement principals, practice and techniques
    • Desirable requirements that would be useful in this role:   
    • Previous experience working in a public sector environment
    • Previous experience working in a procurement related role
