Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Industrial Engineering

Location: Samlesbury, Onsite – 5 days per week onsite

We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

    Salary: £49,400+ (DOE)

    What you’ll be doing:

    • In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with production and engineering teams to improve manufacturing processes, enhance efficiency, and help reduce costs. You’ll observe shop floor activities through time studies and activity sampling to validate standard time values, identify non-value-added tasks, and highlight opportunities to reduce waste. By analysing standard time data and reviewing manufacturing practices, you’ll play an important part in identifying practical improvements that support a more efficient and effective production environment.
    • You’ll also help optimise workflow and resource planning by creating work balance boards that clearly show station workloads and schedules. This includes identifying bottlenecks, improving process flow, and carrying out critical path and capacity analyses. You’ll develop manning profiles, recommend balanced workloads and staffing levels in partnership with production teams, and support the integrity and accuracy of standard time data. In addition, you’ll contribute to both bottom-up and top-down manufacturing cost estimates for new projects, helping ensure plans are realistic, data-driven, and inclusive of the needs of the wider team.

    Core duties:

    • You’ll have a relevant qualification or training, such as a minimum HND (or equivalent) or completion of a recognised apprenticeship.
    • You’ll have experience working in a manufacturing environment, ideally within an Industrial Engineering or similar continuous improvement role.
    • You’ll have considerable knowledge of manufacturing processes and technologies, with a solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles and production control.
    • You’ll be confident using digital tools, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, to analyse data and present insights clearly.
    • You’ll have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels of the organisation.

    The F35 Industrial Engineering Team:

    • Industrial Engineering works collaboratively across Manufacturing Engineering to improve how we work. By using tools such as standard time values, timing trees, observations, work balance boards, bids, discrete event simulation, and bottom-up estimates, the team helps standardise processes, improve visibility, reduce waste, and support accurate, data-driven manufacturing decisions.

    End Date: 25th March 2026
