Senior Software Engineering Manager, Capital Markets Technology at Google

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with software development.
• 5 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
• 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• Experience operating within regulated industries (e.g., finance, payments) or managing high-volume transactional systems.

Preferred qualifications:

• 15 years of software engineering experience, with experience managing teams and other managers.
• Experience influencing executive stakeholders and defining technical strategy at an organizational level.
• Experience making active technical contributions, including open-source contributions or a willingness to remain in architectural decision-making.
• Experience leading migration strategies from on-premise/legacy infrastructure to cloud native architectures in mission critical environments.
• Expertise in architecting and scaling public cloud platforms, specifically using containers (e.g., Kubernetes/GKE) and service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio).
• Expertise in security engineering, including identity management, mTLS, and policy enforcement within distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale a high-performing engineering organization (including managing other managers) responsible for the core platform architecture of the Google Cloud Universal Ledger.
• Drive the technical strategy for transitioning traditional financial infrastructure to cloud native, distributed architectures, focusing on reliability, security, and Google-scale throughput.
• Advocate engineering excellence and developer velocity by building platform tooling, defining architectural standards, and automating delivery pipelines (CI/CD) for complex, regulated environments.
• Partner with product management and external C-level stakeholders at major financial institutions to translate business requirements into robust technical roadmaps.
• Oversee the implementation of critical security and governance frameworks (e.g., identity, zero trust, policy enforcement) required for banking-grade infrastructure.
