    Support and Outage block Layout and Installations Manager

    We are seeking a Manager – Support & Outage Block Layout and Installations to lead the design and delivery of the Support and Outage Block mechanical layout for the Reactor Island. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Containment Layout & Installation, this role combines people leadership, technical integration and strategic planning within a multidisciplinary environment.

    Key Deliverables 

    We’ll need you to:

    • Deliver the Support & Outage Block mechanical layout, leading a team of Layout and Installation Engineers.
    • Recruit, manage and develop team members through coaching, training and performance support.
    • Define delivery strategy using inputs from Civils, Architecture, E3S, Human Factors, Systems, CAD, Operations, Build Certainty and Supply Chain.
    • Own the block‑level plan to ensure cost, schedule and quality delivery.
    • This role offers a unique opportunity to shape a complex and high‑impact area of the SMR design, bringing leadership, integration skills and technical insight to a growing engineering programme.

    Essential Skills / Qualifications 

    • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
    • Experience in mechanical integration, plant layout or installation design in complex engineering environments.
    • Strong people leadership skills with experience building and developing engineering teams.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
    • We’ll ask about your experience delivering integrated layout solutions and managing multidisciplinary inputs.

    Location 

    • Hybrid working available, with regular attendance at our Derby, Manchester or Warrington offices depending on project and team needs.

    What’s in it for you? 

    • Salary £57,600–£75,600 DOE
    • 12.5% bonus
