    Postdoctoral/Senior Research Fellow

    The post 

    This position is available either as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow or a Senior Research Fellow, depending on the knowledge, skills and experience of the successful applicant. The post will run until 30/11/2026 at either 0.1 or 0.2 FTE.

    The Faculty wishes to recruit a Research Fellow to act as the Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Lead for the Exeter Collaboration for Academic Primary Care (APEx). The APEx PPIE Lead will play a key role in developing, implementing, and sustaining high-quality PPIE across the University of Exeter’s primary care research portfolio. The postholder will provide leadership, strategic direction, and expert advice to ensure meaningful involvement of patients and the public in all stages of research—from design to dissemination. The post holder will act as PPIE lead for Exeter’s membership of the NIHR School for Primary Care Research.

    About you

    • The successful applicant will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and will be a nationally recognised authority in primary care or applied health research and possess in-depth understanding of PPIE to enable the development of new knowledge and understanding within the field. In addition, the successful applicant will provide academic leadership to research teams, lead and develop internal and external networks and develop links with external contacts in order to foster collaboration. The role requires demonstrable experience in PPIE design and delivery.

    Deputy Health and Safety Advisor

    About the post

    We are seeking to appoint a competent Health and Safety Advisor to play a pivotal role in advancing our Health and Safety Strategy and the University’s 2030 vision for a sustainable, healthy, and socially just future. This important position will support the effective delivery of university wide Health and Safety management, ensuring that all members of our community are supported to thrive.

    The University has an established Health and Safety culture and a great Health and Safety and Fire Safety Teams. The post holder will be part of the team and in working in the devolved risk management culture, will ensure that all line managers have the support they need to manage the risks in their services. They will also work effectively with the Trade Union Safety Representatives and take time to support any matters they raise.

    The successful candidate will bring experience of effectively advising on all aspects of  Health and Safety and have a strong track record of delivering improvement in scientific aspects of safety.

    About the Department

    The Health and Safety Team (including Fire Safety) is based on the Streatham Campus, Exeter and support people on the St Lukes campus (Exeter) and Penryn Campus (Cornwall). The team is an established team within the Assurance, Compliance and Risk Service, where the post holder will work alongside the other departments including Occupational Health, Public Health, Safeguarding, Information Governance, Compliance, Insurance, Audit, Risk and Business Continuity.

    Employer Events Support Officer

    Summary of the role

    An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Employer Events Team, as an Employer Events Support Officer.

    The Employer Events Team are responsible for delivering a busy and varied programme of employability and careers-focused activities throughout the academic year, including: careers fairs; recruitment presentations; panel talks; mock interviews; Instagram lives and promotional events.

    The post holder will plan, organise and deliver these employer and alumni-focused events, both virtually and physically on-campus, as well as undertake and support student, employer and alumni communications and marketing, plus all other tasks associated with event management. 

    About you

    • We are seeking a proactive, highly motivated and extremely organised individual, with a 'can-do' attitude to join our close-knit team. Given the fast pace of our work, your administrative experience will ensure you have the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines under pressure and manage multiple tasks - switching between them as required with ease, whilst maintaining accuracy. You will be committed to providing exceptional customer service at all times, even during busy periods.
    • You will have excellent communication skills, liaising with a wide variety of stakeholders such as employers, alumni, students and staff, to facilitate the successful delivery of events and will develop strong working relationships with employers to support their recruitment needs. Solid written skills are required to produce marketing content including email circulars and printed material. You will use Outlook, Teams and Sharepoint daily and will be able to quickly assimilate an understanding of the systems we use, such as our careers platform ‘Handshake’ and finance system, ‘T1’. Excellent IT skills are therefore essential.
    • The post holder will actively seek to contribute to team discussions, help find solutions to challenges and make suggestions for improvements. You will be confident making decisions and working independently but will be a team player, working collaboratively with colleagues.    
    • The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in event management in a Higher Education setting. Familiarity delivering virtual events would be advantageous but full training will be given. The post holder will undertake supervision of student staff and support our Employer Event Administrators, so previous experience of this would be desirable. 

    About the team

    • The Employer Events Team sits within Employer Engagement and Student Employment (EESE), the employer-facing side of the University of Exeter’s Careers Service. EESE consists of several teams delivering a wide range of services to facilitate employer and alumni engagement in order to support student progression into graduate-level employment. EESE forms part of the wider ‘Student Employability and Academic Success’ division.
