    UK Commercial Bank - Consumer & Retail Associate (AVP)

    The primary responsibility of the Associate will be, in cooperation with the Senior Relationship Managers, servicing the banking & financing needs of international Mid-Market clients, deepening existing client relationships and acquiring & onboarding new commercial banking clients.
    Responsibilities:

    • Build relationships with Citi network and operational teams, becoming one of the key contacts for clients’ requests, internal requests/escalation and resolution.
    • Support Senior Relationship manager in management of assigned portfolio of clients.
    • Work closely with Senior Relationship Managers to ensure we provide a 'Client First' approach and help to deliver outstanding day to day banking & operational support to our Mid-Market clients.
    • In cooperation with Senior Relationship Manager calls on clients and maximise ‘One Citi’ client experience, by proactively leveraging and sharing Citi’s market leading insights, global network and solutions.
    • Monitor and support products’ implementation processes, clients on-boarding process and manage sales CRM platform.
    • Liaise with Relationship Associate to ensure adherence to global KYC (Know Your Customer) standards during the onboarding process and, on an ongoing basis, ensuring the appropriate compliance deliverables are met.
    • Develops and maintains strong ties with Commercial Banking teams across the globe, in particular CCB colleagues working across the same sector vertical, CCB colleagues supporting subsidiary businesses overseas (Commercial Subsidiaries Group). Collaborate and work closely with various product teams (cash sales, trade finance, markets, corporate finance), Underwriting / Risk teams.
    • Work with Senior Relationship Managers to analyse client relationships, risks & opportunities, assists with credit application write-up, financial spreading, deal structuring, returns calculation, documentation review & preparation. Administrate the credit relationship of clients, ensuring the proper application of policies and institutional processes.
    • Understand key commercial banking processes & solutions, including Transactional Banking, FX, Trade, Treasury, Working Capital and Lending products.
    • Support Senior Relationship Managers on solutioning assessment, preparation of pitch books and meeting materials, assists with new clients’ acquisition.
    • Work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders across CCB, share best practice across teams in order to deliver 'best in class' relationship management to new and existing clients.
    • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

    Qualifications:

    • Previous banking experience
    • Individuals with strong credit, accounting, or underwriting skills or experience are encouraged to apply.
    • Working within Commercial/Corporate banking is desirable.
    • Experience in a Client Relationship role or client facing role.
    • Sales, presentation and communication skills. Focus on first class service quality.
    • Strong Analytical and credit skills / background
    • High level of self-motivation
    • Knowledge of general banking processes, general understanding of commercial banking solutions
    • Ability to build & develop strong client relationships.
    • Effective collaboration skills with Senior Relationship Managers and Commercial Banking partners
    • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft and CRM applications

    Education:

    • Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience

    Paralegal - Belfast

    The Paralegal is a developing professional role that applies specialty area knowledge in monitoring, assessing, analyzing and/or evaluating processes and data. Good understanding of how the team interacts with others in accomplishing the objectives of the area is essential.

    What you’ll do

    • Perform legal support related to legal operations, technology, budget/expenses, risk/controls, or administration, plus varied work requests from multiple sources that may be complex in character and have tight deadlines.
    • Be responsible for tasks associated with a programmes or projects, including carrying out jurisdiction specific legal reviews on lending and capital markets facilities, and carrying out analysis related to capacity and authority, perfection and enforceability.
    • Liaise with other control and functional business in support of projects, such as maintenance of Offshore Wealth Services regulatory rules.
    • Assist with billing and with review of non-disclosure agreements and drafting reference letters.
    • Work closely with the team’s manager to complete tasks assigned.
    • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance.

    What we’ll need from you

    • Relevant experience working in a corporate legal department, law firm, financial services, consulting, technology firm or related industry preferred.
    • Effective organizational skills, attention to detail, exceptional verbal communication and listening skills and be able to work as part of a team (including with team members that are not in the same location as you).
    • Knowledge of legal customs and practices, and the financial services industry.
    • Project management skills and an ability to organise own workload to meet key deadlines.
    • Understanding of when to escalate matters to seniors and your manager.
    • Bachelors/University degree.

    Legal Apprentice

    Core responsibilities of our Legal team include the provision of legal advice to and support of the covered business groups through document negotiation, transaction facilitation, project execution, product legal and regulatory advisory. In addition to these core responsibilities, the Belfast Legal Department also instructs, liaises with, and works closely with external counsel, many of which are globally recognised "magic circle" law firms.

    Programme description

    • We provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed.
    • We’re committed to teaching you the ropes and then some. During the programme, you will complete a part time Law degree LLB (Hons)  as part of your degree apprenticeship over the course of four years. Aside from your peer group and manager, you will have a buddy and a dedicated programme manager. You will have access to first class technical legal and business training from a well-established team, plus access to Citi’s online training portal and  Global Legal Academy training sessions.
    • Side by side job shadowing and coaching with your team will be combined with the opportunity to work with colleagues  in one of the world’s largest investment banks. You will have exposure to all the key skills you need to learn in order to become a successful legal professional.

    As an Apprentice your day will look something like this…

    • Assignments change each year based on the business needs of the teams.  Below are some examples:
    • Drafting - Apprentices will have the opportunity to prepare draft contracts using Citi’s templates and precedent wording.  You will learn to accurately draft a clause within an agreement so that it accurately reflects the commercial terms requested by the business while still being legally binding and enforceable.
    • Negotiation - Apprentices will shadow and later do their own negotiations of legal contracts. Negotiation involves the review of a counterparty’s proposed additional, deleted or amended wording within a Citi contract which needs to be escalated to Citi internal approvers for approval or rejection. You will develop commercial awareness, customer service skills and negotiation skills in order to finalise agreement of contract terms between the parties.
    • Legal Research - You will support the team by undertaking legal research when asked to do so.  Reading and analysing vast amounts of information and breaking it down into manageable components is at the core of any legal career. When reviewing a file you will gather all the relevant facts and analyse the information you find in order to draft legal documents accurately.
    • Process improvements - Nobody likes to repeat the same actions every day and click the same buttons, so our apprentices will be encouraged to get involved in efficiency improvements to see where administrative tasks can be automated or processes can be streamlined to free their time to get involved in more exciting projects

    Qualifications

    We want to hear from you if…

    • You have GCSE in English Language at grade C or above (or equivalent)
    • You have A level grades ABB  (or equivalent)
    • You may also meet the course entry requirements with combinations of different qualifications to the same standard (provided subject requirements are met).
    • Successful applicants will be enrolled on to the Ulster University  Law  LLB (Hons) Part-time Undergraduate course in September 2026.
