    Internal Communications Officer

    Working hours: 35 hours per week
    Contract type: Permanent
    Interview method: in person 
    Applicants must have existing right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
    This role is subject to:

    • Legal right to Work: In accordance with Home Office guidance, successful candidates must evidence their right to work in the UK before commencement of employment. 
    •  2 References - where possible we require 3 years' history. 
    • This role plays a vital part in delivering high‑quality internal communications across the Council. You’ll create impactful content, support the development of communication channels and work closely with teams across the organisation to ensure colleagues receive clear, inclusive and engaging information. 

    The role will require you to: 

    • Create engaging multi-media content for a variety of channels to reach different audiences
    • Tell stories that showcase our diverse workforce
    • Develop and enhance our intranet and staff channels using insight and creativity 
    • Plan and deliver comms activity aligned to key organisational priorities
    • Use evaluation methods to ensure we’re meeting the needs of our staff 
    • Work closely with senior leaders, HRODT and services across the Council
    • Make sure everything we produce is inclusive and representative
    • Be quality conscious and diligent to maintain our reputation as an excellent communication service

    • About the Candidate
    • We’re looking for an innovative, passionate Internal Communications Officer to join our award‑winning Strategic Communications team. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape how we communicate and engage with our diverse workforce, supporting colleagues to feel informed, connected and proud.

    • What we are looking for someone with:
    • Experience in the field of internal communications
    • Creative ideas, strong writing and storytelling skills
    • Ability to manage the production of a variety of campaign assets
    • Confidence using digital tools, software and systems
    • Initiative to plan and deliver communications activity to a high standard
    • Ability to simplify complex and sensitive information to reach various audiences
    • A strong collaborator with excellent relationship and account management skills
    • Ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines
    • An understanding of what staff want and need by listening and being data driven
    • Appetite to learn, grow and succeed
