About the role
We are looking for a Senior Finance Manager to build from scratch, and own FP&A business partnering for the Europe and Africa regions. You will establish and lead regional financial planning, analysis, and reporting, delivering strategic insights to senior stakeholders and regional management while integrating local activities into our global FP&A ecosystem. You will oversee in-market investments, have a deep understanding of the interactions between investment and ROI. You will leverage this understanding and a close partnership with the Topline Finance team and International Data to provide country leadership with a clear, nuanced understanding of their full P&L.
The ideal candidate is an independent builder who thrives in ambiguity, proactively identifies opportunities, and demonstrates the initiative to solve complex problems autonomously. You possess a clear vision of best practices yet appreciate our unique journey, balancing rigor with agility to empower teams to execute swiftly and effectively. Above all, you are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and dive into the details when needed.
You will initially be an individual contributor, but as you build the regional FP&A function, there may be opportunities to lead and grow a direct team.
What you’ll be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment, this role will:
- Serve as the primary FP&A business partner to international, in-country, and functional teams, providing strategic financial guidance as a trusted co-pilot.
- Maintain full oversight and stewardship of regional investments, influencing strategies and shaping the P&L to best deliver Canva’s business outcomes alongside company leadership.
- Contribute to creating and implementing an international ROI framework that drives accountability and informs resource allocation.
- Build and execute performance rhythms with country teams that integrate into the overall FP&A ecosystem. This includes planning packages, monthly reporting and variance analyses (MBRs, QBRs etc)
- Be FP&A’s champion across the region, helping regions achieve the right balance between financial rigour and operational speed.
- Proactively identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement in the FP&A team's capabilities and processes to better support international teams.
- Provide insightful analyses and actionable recommendations to stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making and strategic alignment.
- Develop and communicate clear, compelling narratives around financial performance and investment effectiveness to senior management, which will help with ensuring optimal
You're probably a match if you have
- 8+ years of experience building and leading FP&A functions within multinational or high-growth companies
- Prior experience in the technology industry required, Cloud/SaaS and public listed experience is a strong plus
- A structured, pragmatic mindset which will help with balancing between building for financial rigour suitable for public companies, whilst enabling the business to operate at a high tempo and with flexibility.
- Experience with SaaS products, international expansion, and/or partnering with Marketing functions is preferred.
- Strong ability to operate independently and navigate ambiguity, proactively identifying and solving complex problems that may be ad hoc, or systemic in nature
- Deep expertise in financial planning, forecasting methodologies, investment analysis, and P&L management in a matrixed environment
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, adept at translating financial data into actionable business insights
- Strong stakeholder management skills, able to influence senior leadership decisions and strategy.
- Willingness and ability to collaborate across multiple time zones, including occasional flexibility with working hours (we will do our best to make sure it works for you too!)
- Relevant qualifications required (E.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CFA)
