    Project Director - Strategic Procurement

    Here’s what you will do:

    • Lead project delivery: Serve as the strategic procurement lead on major infrastructure projects, providing visionary advice on delivery models, contract strategies, and commercial frameworks aligned with client objectives.
    • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, acting as a key adviser on procurement strategy and execution, ensuring alignment with market conditions and client goals.
    • Oversee Procurement Processes: Manage the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, including supplier engagement, tender development, evaluation, and negotiation, ensuring high-value, multi-disciplinary solutions are delivered.
    • Drive Business Growth: Contribute to the growth and evolution of AECOM Advisory, identifying opportunities for expansion and leading work-winning activities, including proposal development.
    • Champion Quality and Innovation: Ensure quality assurance and continuous improvement in project outcomes, representing AECOM as a sector leader in strategic procurement through participation in industry forums and thought leadership initiatives.

    Qualifications

    Here's what we're looking for

    • Demonstrable experience leading complex programmes and projects at scale and pace within a consultancy or inhouse team.
    • Significant post-qualification experience of procurement for complex construction and infrastructure projects with sector experience in infrastructure, specifically Energy, Defence, Transportation and Water desirable.
    • Leadership experience in the provision of strategic advice to lead clients through the process of designing the optimum delivery model, contract strategy, commercial model and route to market for their project.
    • Experience in leading competitive procurement processes including market engagement, supplier shortlisting, tender document development, tender management, evaluation and negotiation.
    • Experience in developing, reviewing, or delivering high value procurement advice which aligns to client objectives and strategic priorities whilst satisfying value-for-money assessments.
    • Experience of delivery throughout the procurement lifecycle, from strategy development, through sourcing actions and into the contract management and supplier engagement phases.
    • Experience working with and interpreting public procurement regulations legislation and regulatory frameworks, with the ability to incorporate these into procurement design and strategic recommendations.
    • Experience of supporting work winning activity including contributing to proposal documentation.

    Senior Cost Manager (Water Sector)

    Here’s what you’ll do

    As a Senior Cost Manager, you will be expected to work as part of or lead a team to successfully manage and deliver capital investment projects. This role involves providing client-side cost/commercial management support during all stages of the project delivery lifecycle from option studies, option development, and construction tender support through to NEC contract administration and on-site delivery.

    • Lead Cost/Commercial Cost Management commissions, taking responsibility for their successful delivery.
    • Participation in appropriate meetings including minuting and proactively engaging in discussions, contributing to the PEP, preparing cost collating progress reports, assisting with procurement strategies and tender documentation, general post contract commercial management and administration
    • Proactively engaging with Client, contractor and other stakeholders, being aware of the scope of service and ensuring we deliver within the agreed parameters and help to resolve prevent disputes whenever possible.
    • Client-side project cost management, including stakeholder, H&S, risk, quality, schedule, and contract management
    • Support projects and commissions are delivered to the satisfaction of the client for quality, cost, and time
    • Support and manage the project team ensuring appropriate resources are provided on projects, meeting the client and business requirements
    • Manage the delivery of project management team outputs, in accordance with agreed timescales and quality standards. Develop strong relationships with clients and members of the cross-functional team
    • Support business development opportunities with existing and new clients
    • Provide support on contract management services on NEC4 contracts, administering through a contract management system.
    • Advise the client on procurement strategies and review tender documentation.
    • Provide effective support and mentoring to Graduates and Apprentices.

    Here’s what we’re looking for:

    • Infrastructure project cost/commercial management experience (Water industry experience desirable)
    • Excellent knowledge and understanding of NEC suite of contracts, particularly the Professional Services Contract (PSC) and Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) ideally working towards NEC ECC Accreditation
    • Experience of working as part of an integrated, multi-organisation, collaborative teams
    • Good communication and organisational skills
    • Relationship building skills –ability to build strong relationships with clients, teams, and stakeholders as well as an ability to build and maintain networks of business contacts.
    • Able to work under own initiative where appropriate working closely with the Senior Project Managers and Associates in the delivery of some of our projects.
    • A team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible
    • Excellent IT Skills and the ability to utilize current digital tools.
    • Excellent numeracy, verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to manage relationships both internally and externally.
    • Keen to work as part of a team and to develop and progress career development.
    • Engenders a right first-time approach.

    Education, Professional Qualifications Requirements

    The individuals proposed for the role will ideally demonstrate the following:

    • A minimum 2 to 5 years of proven experience in a consulting or contractor environment providing a full spectrum of PM services including chairing meetings, minuting or proactively engaging in discussions, developing the PEP, progress reports, and tender documentation. General post contract management and administration, proactively engaging with relevant stakeholders, being aware of the scope of service and ensuring we deliver within the agreed parameters.
    • A relevant degree such as in quantity surveying, engineering, environmental science, construction, or relevant subject. Alternatively, relevant experience in industry would be considered acceptable for exceptional candidates.
    • Excellent understanding and use of NEC suite of contracts, particularly the Professional Services Contract (PSC) and Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) .
    • Ideally a member of a related professional body (E.g. RICS or equivalent) is highly desirable.
    • You may be required to undertake and successfully complete security screening checks.
