    First Line Manager - Transport

    WHAT DOES THE ROLE ENTAIL?

    • Oversee and support the performance of drivers and clerks to ensure they meet the established Key Performance Indicators
    • Ensure all transport operations are carried out in compliance with safety regulations and legal requirements, while maintaining operational efficiency.
    • Make necessary changes to daily transport plans if issues arise to ensure smooth operations
    • Proactively address and resolve any issues related to transport operations or coordination with the warehouse to minimize delays and maintain productivity.
    • Lead daily briefings and debriefings with drivers to communicate important updates, safety information, and expectations for the shift.
    • Manage Driver performance to identify any major discrepancies in accordance with the Daily Transport Plan
    • Ensure drivers and the fleet comply with all relevant legal, safety, and operational standards, ensuring smooth and lawful operation throughout the shift

    • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to supervise, organise and train direct reports
    • A recognised qualification in Supply Chain Management or Logistics will be well-received

    Transport Manager

    WHAT YOU'LL DO

    • Lead and inspire a high-performing transport team, fostering a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement while driving operational excellence across all KPIs and SLAs.
    • Own the transport P&L and budget, ensuring cost-effective operations through strategic planning, performance trend analysis, and collaboration with finance and network stakeholders.
    • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance, acting as the named CPC holder and maintaining full accountability for driver standards, fleet operations, and health & safety across the site.
    • Drive operational leadership and issue resolution, serving as the escalation point for transport and warehouse challenges, and implementing solutions that align with business continuity and customer requirements.
    • Champion team development and engagement, managing recruitment, performance reviews, and disciplinary processes while promoting DHL's leadership attributes and employee satisfaction initiatives.

    WHAT YOU'LL BRING

    • Proven leadership in transport operations, with experience in logistics and middle management, delivering KPIs and driving performance in unionised environments.
    • Strong compliance mindset, holding a valid Transport CPC and demonstrating expertise in transport legislation, health & safety standards, and DHL Operator Licence awareness.
    • Commercial acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to manage budgets, interpret performance data, and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining service excellence.
    • Exceptional communication and influence, able to lead diverse teams, manage change effectively, and build strong relationships across stakeholders and customer networks.
    • Digitally confident and adaptable, with strong Microsoft Office proficiency and the ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, ever-changing operational environment.

    Warehouse Duty Manager-Hayes

    Role Overview         

    As a DHL Warehouse Duty Manager, you’ll sort shipments to ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Join us to work for an employer who rewards hard work and dedication with an attractive salary and job satisfaction.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • To manage a large team within the warehouse, working daily with employees from both the blue and white collar background.
    • To oversee lines of communications between branches and departments within the warehouse to ensure the smooth flow of cargo through the shed.
    • Hold regular meetings with the direct reports to ensure everyone is up to date with customer requirements or operational changes
    • Keep tight control of manning levels to cope with expected throughputs while reducing costs to the business
    • Collate and check staff timesheets monthly
    • Control absent and holiday requests, completing back to work interviews with staff upon their return to work following illness
    • Uphold and implement and actively promote all DHL polices with all direct reports
    • Attend operational meetings as required and actively contribute to assist with the ongoing improvement of DGF service
    • Support all other functions within the DGF organization, Specifically supporting Human resources as well as taking a lead role with all elements of health and safety in the workplace and well as upholding all regulation of aviation security
    • Suggest and support changes in work practices to improve the overall productivity and efficiency of the warehouse operation
    • Report to management at the end of each shift with details of successes or issues of what had taken place during the previous 12 hours
    • Complete motiv8’s with your direct reports and support the supervisors to complete the same with their teams
    • Collaborate closely with all departments both within the warehouse and offices throughout the UK for smooth handling of shipments and continuous updates
    • Support, coach and provide guidance to supervisors and warehouse staff to achieve movement of cargo in line with customer agreed timelines
    • Ensures all GCCS are responded to promptly and professionally.
    • Escalates issues if required.
    • Ensures that all interactions are compliant with DPDHL Code of Conduct and other compliance requirements e.g. anti-corruption
    • Contribute to the First Choice continuous improvement program

    Skills and Experience:

    • Proven history of man management skills
    • Customer service focus
    • Good Administrative skills
    • Results driven and good attention to details
    • Good written and spoken English
    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Able to prioritise and perform under pressure
    • A level education or broad GCSE level education and previous management history (would be desirable)

    Operations Support Manager

    A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE

    THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO

    • Strong systems knowledge, including Power BI, Microsoft Office Suite, and Transport Management Systems (TMS).
    • Proven management experience, ideally within a fast-paced logistics or supply chain environment.
    • Solid background in transport operations, with a clear understanding of compliance and efficiency.
    • Confident in dealing with both customers and site teams, maintaining strong working relationships.
    • Transport CPC qualification is desirable but not essential.
