Description of the role:
- Leading a portfolio of Forensic Investigation engagements, ranging from financial, fraud or misconduct investigations, through to proactive risk management and regulatory driven compliance work, and ‘Forensic in the Audit’ (FITA)
- Building relationships with relevant internal and external contacts through quality delivery on engagements and proactive involvement in other networking activity
- Taking a lead role on proposals/ bids for future work
- Acting independently in delivering engagements, under overall engagement leader supervision
- Preparation of reports and sections thereof for Partner/ Director review
- Managing the risks and financials associated with client engagements
- Engaging credibly with senior stakeholders at clients (e.g. board level individuals at corporate clients and/or law firm partners) on behalf of KPMG
- Developing and overseeing more junior members of the team on project assignments
- Recognising the importance of continuous self and team development and actively striving to achieve this
Role dimensions:
Leadership & Management:
As an I&C Senior Manager you will be expected to lead engagement teams of varying size, which may include both onshore and offshore colleagues, contractors and/or colleagues from other member firms. You will be expected to oversee and train colleagues and take responsibility for the quality of work produced on engagements.
Stakeholder Interaction & challenges:
As an I&C Senior Manager you will be expected to liaise directly with clients, client’s external counsel, senior members of the KPMG team and other third parties as required. You may be managing multiple senior level stakeholders across multiple projects at any one time.
Impact, Risk, Accountability & Governance:
Senior Managers will typically have Engagement Manager responsibilities on large and complex engagements. They will be accountable to the Engagement Leaders on their engagements
You will be expected to effectively manage the risks and financials associated with client engagements.
The Person:
Essential experience:
- Chartered Professional Accountant or Chartered Accountant or equivalent and/or relevant experience as set out below.
- Substantial PQE experience which includes a forensic consulting focus, or substantial as a forensic specialist during which accounting qualification obtained.
- A broad range of experience in managing Forensic engagements, covering at least two of the following: investigations, fraud risk management, dispute advisory or regulatory compliance
- Adept at deploying or overseeing forensic accountancy, data analytics, interviews, corporate intelligence and electronic media reviews as part of investigations
- Experience in statutory audit, financial accounting, financial misstatements and/or forensic support to audits beneficial
- Demonstrable experience of managing projects, including financial and risk management
- Experience in scoping and defining Forensic projects
- Commercial awareness and proven track record of managing the risks and financials associated with client engagements
- Proven ability to lead and manage teams
- Ability to articulate complex and technical findings in both written and oral presentations for a variety of audiences
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, self-motivation and an enquiring mind
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
- Confidence and ability to quickly establish credibility with clients and senior colleagues
- Confidence in challenging existing ways of working and ways of thinking

The Role
The key aspects of the role include:
- Managing work in relation to a wide variety of employment solutions advisory projects, varying from larger strategic projects through to risk and opportunity reviews.
- Managing employer compliance activities relating to areas such as employment status. decisions, PAYE health checks, SAO certification, HMRC’s “Know Your Customer” reviews, voluntary disclosures, PAYE Settlement Agreements and running projects relating to payroll advisory as well as National Minimum Wage and CIS compliance.
- Taking responsibility for winning, managing and delivering work to a high standard and meeting deadlines.
- Proactively dealing with engagement management aspects of project delivery including work in progress, billing and risk procedures and with consideration for the financial and commercial implications when making difficult decisions.
- Reviewing work and coaching and developing junior colleagues.
- Managing and developing client relationships through business development activities.
- Leading local marketing initiatives.

The Individual
- The candidate will have practical experience of the areas outlined above with a strong background in Employment Tax. We are interested in candidates who have worked in Practice or HMRC.
- Ideally (but not essential) CTA, ACA, CPA or CA qualified.
