You will work with colleagues to realise a collective vision that will take the course forward.

    A Lecturer (AC2) is expected to possess, develop, and utilise a range of teaching methods and ways of supporting student learning. These may include: lectures, seminars, tutorials, forms of e-learning, workshops, laboratory classes and individual supervision.

    A Lecturer is expected to: continually update their disciplinary and/or professional knowledge and understanding; develop personal (and, where appropriate, collaborative) research objectives; write up research work for publication; translate new subject knowledge into teaching content; and reflect on their own practice as a higher education teacher.

    To be effective in this role you will need;

    • A relevant degree, preferably in Textiles Design with a specialism in Woven Textiles.
    • Professional design experience in the textiles industry with detailed knowledge of woven textiles design for a range of markets and contexts.
    • Sound awareness of the subject including current professional/ vocational developments and the range of processes, skills, theories and issues relevant to contemporary woven textile design practice.
    • Evidence of the ability to teach across the whole design process from research to final   outcomes. Evidence of a range of drawing and visual communication skills, and experience with Adobe design software for the development and translation of design ideas for weave.
    • Knowledge and experience in colour and trend prediction, yarn selection, loom setup for Dobby and Jacquard looms and the understanding of professional sampling techniques.
    • Evidence of scholarship, research/professional activities to support teaching and learning.

    Teaching experience in textiles at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level would be preferable. High level knowledge of the technical aspects of woven textiles design and production processes, sustainable textiles design practices, and digital design software packages relevant to woven textiles e.g. Scot Weave, Point Carre or DB-Weave are also an advantage.
