    Manager, BI Development (Maternity Cover)

    Role purpose

    Managing a team and working with members of the wider global TDIT team, the role holder will be responsible for building, implementing, continuously improving, supporting and analysing Business Intelligence (BI) solutions within the organisation. This role will partner with business stakeholders and product owners in order to understand their analytics requirements, and implement and maintain BI solutions to meet these needs utilising best practices.

    Reports To: Head of BI and Integration Solutions

    Work Pattern: Hybrid/Remote with flexible working options available 

    Contract Length: Fixed Term Contract (1st November 2025 – 31st May 2026)

    Grade: M2

    Principal Accountabilities

    • Manage and develop a high-performing team that embodies Save the Children's values, fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment that values diversity as a strength. 
    • Ensure compliance with SCI's policies, including the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion policy, to foster an environment where all employees can bring their true selves to work and feel respected, valued, and supported. 
    • Provide technical leadership, steer and knowledge sharing to developers to assure quality outcomes. Train BI Developers, analysts and end-users.
    • Lead the execution of software development initiatives in the BI space, ensuring they align with the strategic goals of Save the Children International to create positive outcomes for children in need. 
    • Collaborate inclusively with global TDIT team members, business stakeholders, and product owners to design and deliver comprehensive Business Intelligence solutions that support organisational goals, ensuring alignment with stakeholder requirements and best practices.
    • Oversee the product development lifecycle, managing the entire product development process from ideation to release and beyond, ensuring alignment with business objectives and user needs in alignment with project and change request delivery methodologies
    • Foster a culture of innovation when creating BI Solutions using ‘proof of concepts’ to demonstrate the new approaches 
    • Analyse and continuously improve BI systems and processes, ensuring they are efficient, robust, and capable of helping the organisation make data-driven decisions.
    • Manage and provide agreed services to business functions (e.g. monthly KPI data to Program Operations team or month end stock reconciliation data to Supply Chain and Finance Teams)
    • Maintain and support existing BI solutions working closely with broader Technology Services teams and in alignment with the organisation’s application support ways of working

    Experience and Skills

    Essential

    • Extensive experience as a developer
    • Experience in a variety of BI roles, including ‘senior level’ responsibilities
    • Experience delivering BI solutions using Azure technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks as well as SSAS solutions in both Multidimensional and Tabular modes including the ability to script MDX and DAX
    • Extensive knowledge of ETL tools such as SSIS and Azure Data Factory
    • Extensive knowledge of Reporting tools such as Power BI and SSRS
    • In-depth knowledge of MS SQL Server 2019, 2014 and/or 2012
    • Experience of working with SQL Server databases, including creating & modifying T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, functions, triggers, writing ad-hoc queries and dynamic SQL
    • Extensive knowledge of dimensional modelling and database modelling theories
    • Experience of working closely with non-technical staff, demonstrating an ability to translate and negotiate non-technical requirements into a detailed technical specification
    • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with a proven ability to explain complex technical ideas and problems clearly to non-experts 

    Desirable

    • Experience working with finance systems
    • Experience working with the full MS BI suite in it’s different variations IaaS, PaaS and SaaS (e.g. Power BI, PerformancePoint, DataZen, etc.)
    • Non-profit sector knowledge/experience
    • Experience of working within an agile project delivery environment and with geographically dispersed team members
    • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and strong problem-solving skills 
    • Cultural awareness and experience of delivering solutions internationally

    Education and Qualifications 

    Essential

    • Demonstrated skills and experience are more important that formal education and qualifications in this role therefore none are considered essential

    Desirable

    • Degree in appropriate computing or technology related subject
    • Relevant, technology specific certifications (e.g. Microsoft certified (MCSE in Business Intelligence)
    • Appropriate certification in technology methodologies (e.g. agile)
    • Experience with Big Data and Cloud Data Warehousing: Familiarity with tools like Databricks, Spark, or Snowflake for handling large-scale data integration is beneficial.
    • Programming skills in python or R
