    Software Engineer

    About EPrints Services

    • As a result of our continued success, we are hiring into a Software Engineering / Customer Support role.
    • We primarily develop and maintain Web-based repository services for a wide variety of both education and commercial organisations all over the World.
    • At our core is an open source repository platform, EPrints, which provides a flexible way to configure operations concerning data capture, structure and presentation, and a range of services that allow content to be accessed in a variety of ways.  We support our many customers by maintaining our own Linux based virtual hosting infrastructure.
    • We are a well established small Enterprise team based in the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton.

    About You

    • As part of the team, you will take responsibility for the development and support of customer focused projects, for both EPrints systems and more varied engineering activities. These typically relate to open access, open data, digital education, content management and systems integrations.
    • All projects require some level of design, programming, testing, project management, and customer support.

    It is essential you have:

    • Proven industrial experience and / or 
    • PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Computer Science or related discipline.
    • In addition, some knowledge of Linux as well as Web relevant technologies, for example XML, SQL, JavaScript and CSS is required. Experience in high level programming languages such as Python, PHP or Perl will be highly desirable.
    • This role is offered on a full-time fixed term contract initially for two years. It is normal for us to extend contracts on a rolling two-year basis.

    Information Governance Officer (Secure Data Environment)

    The role and about you

    • We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Information Governance Project Officer to join our Information Governance Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design and implementation of a major project to deliver a Secure Data Environment (SDE), ensuring its governance aligns with the University’s Information Governance and Security Framework.
    • You will coordinate and deliver project-related Information Governance activities, provide excellent service and support to internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to the wider responsibilities of the Information Governance team.

    Administrator

    The Faculty of Medicine is seeking a motivated individual to provide professional, operational and administrative support within a busy team.  

    You will join the School of Clinical and Experimental Sciences based at University Hospital Southampton on a part-time, permanent basis.

    You will be proactive and possess strong administrative and proven organisational skills. You will be a team player with a keen eye for detail and a flexible, can-do attitude with the ability to manage your own workload and meet tight deadlines. You will have IT, interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to providing excellent customer service. An awareness of university processes and regulations would be an advantage.     Customer Services Assistant

    We have an exciting opportunity to join our box office team as a customer service assistant to provide high quality, professional customer service to everyone who interacts with Turner Sims.

    Turner Sims is the University of Southampton’s music venue, with big ambitions to build an inclusive world through the joy of live music. We are transforming from a respected concert hall to a dynamic creative hub for music that connects communities locally and globally through the joy of live music, and our mission is to share music that connects, moves and inspires people through extraordinary experiences at our venue and beyond. 

    Experience of working with the public, within an arts organisation, is desirable, along with experience of handling a diverse range of situations in a customer focussed environment.

    You will be able to deliver an accurate, efficient and inclusive ticketing and information service using our CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system, Spektrix, to sell and promote tickets, products and services to maximise sales and audience attendance. You will be enthusiastic about providing exceptional standards of customer care. To work supportively and collaboratively within the Turner Sims team to ensure the successful delivery of all Turner Sims promoted events, engagement activity and hires. 

    You will be able to use our standard computer systems including TEAMS, Outlook and word-processing, be able to confidently manage and prioritise your workload, and show knowledge and awareness of diversity, equality, inclusion and making arts and culture accessible to all.

    This is a permanent part-time position, averaging 14 hours per week. Hours will be annualised and include regular daytime shifts, as well as flexible evening and weekend shifts along with occasional sickness and annual leave cover for other box office colleagues.

    Candidates who are invited to interview will be asked to undertake a short comprehension task to talk about as part of the interview process.
