    Technical Operations Manager

    Make an Impact at RSM UK

    This is a unique opportunity for a Technical Operations Manager to join the Consulting Technical team. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of technical projects, driving operational effectiveness, and enabling the Technical Partner to focus on strategic priorities. The role is hands-on, with no line management responsibility, but requires someone who is proactive, highly organised, and able to take ownership of tasks from inception to completion. Internal applicants may be considered for this role on a secondment basis.

    You’ll make an impact by:

    • Providing direct support to the Technical Partner, acting as a trusted adviser and sounding board on a range of technical and operational matters
    • Drafting, reviewing, and coordinating technical documents, reports, and presentations, ensuring high standards and timely delivery
    • Taking responsibility for the first draft of key documents, policies, and communications, synthesising input from multiple stakeholders
    • Project managing technical initiatives, tracking progress, identifying risks, and ensuring actions are completed
    • Liaising with technical specialists, client-facing teams, and business partners to gather information, share knowledge, and drive best practice
    • Supporting the Technical Partner in preparing for meetings, collating agendas, briefing materials, and following up on actions
    • Maintaining a log of lessons learned and best practices, sharing insights across the technical team
    • Embracing digital tools and approaches to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in all tasks
    • Undertaking research, data analysis, and benchmarking to inform technical strategy and decision-making
    • Providing ad hoc support on special projects and technical initiatives as required

    What we are looking for:

    • Proactive, self-starter with a “can-do” attitude; able to work independently and take ownership of tasks
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise documents for a range of audiences
    • Strong organisational and project management skills; able to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines
    • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
    • An individual comfortable working with ambiguity and able to synthesise information from diverse sources
    • Collaborative, diplomatic, and able to build relationships across technical and business teams
    • IT proficient, especially in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams); willingness to embrace new digital tools
    • Experience in a technical, compliance, or consulting environment is desirable

    The International Assurance Services team are looking for a Principal Consultant with specific experience of internal audit, to join the team working on a range of clients including UK and international governments, donors, public sector bodies, charities and INGOs. 

    You’ll make an impact by:

    • Being a team player, by have a ‘can do’ attitude and being able to understand that the best solutions come from collaboration, exchanges of ideas and resilience.
    • Successfully conducting assignments internationally, whilst being prepared to work away from home occasionally (approx. 10% of the time).
    • Working with our public-sector and not for profit clients both in the UK and overseas. Our work is diverse, so you need to be adaptable, proactive and a self-starter. You could be seconded to a UK government department auditing major change programmes or auditing beneficiary data on a cash transfer programme for both economically challenged countries/states or economically strong nations.

    We value diverse experiences and perspectives. Here’s what we’re looking for in our ideal candidate: 

    • IIA/ACA qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CMIIA etc.)
    • Fluent and able to conduct assignments in a second language preferably French.
    • Eligible to undergo UK Government security clearance.
    • Robust, post qualification experience.
    • Level 7 education, ideally a masters degree.
    • Experience of internal audit in the UN or central government / public sector.
    • Experience of fraud / procurement / donor grants / financial systems.
    • Experience working in/with the international not-for-profit sectors.
    • Able to undertake overseas travel (around 2-3 trips a year).
    • Experience of institutional grant budget proposal development, compliance, monitoring and reporting.
