    Job Summary

As an Assistant Relationship Manager at Standard Chartered, you will play a pivotal role in providing direct sales and client relationship support to the Senior Banker or Banker, helping to drive new business origination and contributing jointly to client revenue and profitability goals. This vital role requires you to support comprehensive client engagement strategies, partner with internal teams, and foster strong, trusting relationships with international corporate clients. Your efforts will be instrumental in enhancing client satisfaction and ensuring the delivery of seamless, high-quality banking services across multiple markets.

Success in this role requires a blend of financial acumen, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills, enabling you to act as both a client liaison and trusted advisor. You will have the opportunity to engage closely with product teams, network partners, and senior management to deliver tailored solutions that meet the evolving needs of our client base. Your contribution will have a measurable impact not only on client retention and growth but also on the wider business objectives of Standard Chartered's international corporate banking division.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Serve as a secondary yet critical point of contact for client relationship management by supporting both internal departments and external client needs in tandem with the Global Account Manager (GAM).
    • Develop and nurture robust, multi-level relationships with client organisations to ensure continuity and consistency of service, promoting a deep understanding of client business models and sectors.
    • Generate innovative ideas and participate actively in pitching sessions and presentations, collaborating with internal stakeholders and clients to align business objectives and enhance relationship value.
    • Collaborate with the GAM to formulate and implement comprehensive Client Account Plans and Strategies, ensuring all relevant teams are well-informed and engaged in executing client-focused initiatives.
    • Maintain consistent coverage and engagement across the Standard Chartered network, enhancing the client experience and leveraging cross-team expertise.
    • Partner with product specialists to identify and maximise cross-selling opportunities and optimise returns on risk-weighted assets.
    • Provide proactive support for deal origination activities including client research, preparation of pitch materials, and coordination with network and product teams.
    • Assist with sales discipline adherence such as pipeline management, client call reports, and deal approval documentation, ensuring compliance and operational excellence.
    • Coordinate deal returns and pricing analyses in cooperation with Product Sales and network teams to support profitability assessments.
    • Prepare thoroughly for client meetings by developing briefing documents, facilitating internal strategy discussions, and aligning approaches with the Banker.
    • Conduct detailed client-specific analyses, including competitor benchmarking, to inform value propositions and uncover new business possibilities.
    • Support end-to-end execution of new business transactions, from deal structuring and documentation to coordination on revenue recognition and fee bookings.
    • Manage the client portfolio actively by engaging clients and product partners to monitor limit utilizations and ensure revenue accuracies at both portfolio and client levels.

    Qualifications

    • Extensive experience in Corporate Banking, specifically with a strong track record of managing relationships with large international corporate clients within a relationship management or coverage role.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage complex corporate relationships in dynamic banking environments.
    • Preferred experience includes working with Natural Resources sectors such as Oil, Gas, and Metals, coupled with comprehensive product knowledge related to these industries.
    • Fluency in Business English is essential for effective communication with global clients and internal teams.
    • A Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or other relevant disciplines is advantageous.
    • Possession of or willingness to attain certifications related to Risk Management and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) to ensure compliance and risk awareness.
    • Strong competencies including action orientation, collaboration skills, agility in learning, trust-building abilities, and a clear focus on customer needs.
