    Chef

    The University of Chester is looking for a skilled Chef to join our friendly Hospitality & Events team at Exton Park.

    This is a hands-on kitchen role where you’ll work closely with the Kitchen Co-ordinator and the wider catering team to prepare and serve a range of fresh dishes every day. Our catering service supports students, staff, and visitors, and prides itself on delivering consistently high standards – from day-to-day service to large-scale events.

    What you’ll be doing:

    • Preparing and cooking fresh, quality food to a high standard
    • Working with the Kitchen Co-ordinator to plan daily requirements
    • Ensuring compliance with food safety, HACCP, COSHH, and health & safety standards
    • Supporting the team with menu planning, stock checks, and food service
    • Delivering excellent customer service, working flexibly to meet student and staff needs
    • Maintaining high standards in a busy, professional kitchen environment

    What we’re looking for:

    • City & Guilds 706/1&2 or NVQ Level 2 in Catering (or equivalent)
    • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (essential)
    • Experience in a professional kitchen environment
    • A calm, adaptable team player with great communication skills
    • Ability to stay positive and productive under pressure

    Desirable extras include NVQ Level 3, Intermediate Food Hygiene, or experience in patisserie or competition work.
