    Head of Acquisition

    Your Role: We are seeking a strategic Head of Acquisition to lead the growth of The Sun’s audience and subscriber base across paid and owned channels. This role will be responsible for identifying, targeting, and converting new audiences – turning brand awareness into loyal, engaged users and customers. You will combine data-led decision making with creative campaign execution, working across the full marketing funnel.

    Day to day you will

    • Develop and lead The Sun’s acquisition strategy to deliver significant audience growth across The Sun’s products and subscription proposition.
    • Identify and target new audience segments using insight, market trends, and data analytics to inform campaign planning.
    • Oversee all acquisition campaigns across paid media (social, search, display, video, affiliates) and owned channels.
    • Optimise conversion rates through continuous testing and refinement of creative, messaging, customer journeys and AI technology.
    • Work cross-functionally with editorial, product, analytics, and tech teams to create seamless user journeys that drive performance.
    • Manage agency and media partner relationships to maximise ROI and reach.
    • Own acquisition budgets and deliver growth targets within agreed cost-per-acquisition metrics.
    • Implement a robust measurement framework to track performance, understand attribution, and report results to senior stakeholders.
    • Champion innovation by testing new platforms, formats, and targeting capabilities to keep The Sun at the forefront of digital marketing.

    What we're looking for from you

    • A background in a senior acquisition, performance marketing, or growth role, ideally within a media, subscription, or e-commerce environment.
    • Deep knowledge of paid acquisition channels (social, search, programmatic, video) and owned channels (CRM, onsite, app).
    • Strong analytical skills with experience using data platforms, attribution tools, A/B testing methodologies and AI technology.
    • Commercially astute with experience managing significant budgets and delivering ROI-focused campaigns.
    • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
    • Highly organised, proactive, and able to balance long-term strategic vision with short-term delivery.

    Acquisition Lead (Owned)

    Your Role: The Sun is looking for a commercially driven and strategic Acquisition Lead to lead audience and subscription growth across our owned channels. Reporting to the Head of Acquisition, this role will be pivotal in planning and delivering campaigns that convert readers into paying subscribers — using data-driven strategies, compelling value propositions, and optimised user journeys.

    You will work closely with editorial, product, CRM, design, and analytics teams to create seamless conversion experiences across our owned channels. This is a hands-on, high-impact role focused on measurable results, ideal for someone with a strong understanding of acquisition marketing in a digital environment.

    Day to day you will:

    • Own and execute the subscription acquisition strategy across all owned channels, including app, email, push notifications, and social.
    • Develop and optimise both always-on and tactical campaigns to drive subscriber growth through robust testing and experimentation.
    • Utilise data and audience insights to identify high-conversion opportunities and craft targeted messaging that resonates with our readers.
    • Partner with editorial and design teams to ensure acquisition messaging aligns perfectly with our brand tone and content strategy.
    • Collaborate with CRM and Retention teams to create a smooth transition from the point of acquisition into long-term onboarding.
    • Track and report on acquisition performance, focusing on key metrics such as CPA, conversion rates, and ROI to inform future investments.
    • Stay ahead of industry trends and competitor activity to continuously improve our strategic approach.

    What we're looking for from you:

    • Proven experience in acquisition marketing, preferably in a subscription, publishing, or digital media environment.
    • Deep understanding of owned digital channels and how to use them to drive performance.
    • Strong commercial acumen and performance mindset.
    • Ability to translate insights into actionable plans and clear reporting.
    • Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, content-rich environment.
