    • Educated to degree level, and CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent
    • Good understanding of and previous experience within corporate tax compliance, dealing with the annual tax return process of both small clients and those with a much more extensive number of assignees in the UK and internationally
    • Manage a portfolio of clients including control of billings and cash collection within the firms criteria.
    • Managing the successful delivery of commercially viable and technically excellent advice to a variety of clients involving tax due diligence, structuring, international and other advisory work and including liaising with specialists in other tax teams and overseas BDO offices to manage their input.
    • With an ability to undertake tax audits for clients under UK GAAP, IFRS and US GAAP.
    • Experience of preparing proposals for new work, including researching target client companies and on technical issues to identify new solutions

    In Transaction Services, you will have the opportunity to support a range of clients by providing due diligence services to support them through events such as acquisitions, sale processes and capital markets transactions. We help to deliver successful transaction outcomes through our data-driven insights and commercial acumen.

    An Assistant Director is required to independently, and with the support of other Assistant Directors, Directors and Partners, develop and grow the Transaction Services business within Corporate Finance, as well as develop team members. You will have a good understanding of, and experience in, the field of financial due diligence for corporate or strategic buyers, private equity or financial buyers and vendors and / or reporting accountant’s work. You will also have developed sector knowledge.

    You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with.

    Responsibilities:

    • Support and contribute to the management of the Corporate Finance team with other Assistant Directors, Directors and Partners.
    • Project manage larger Corporate Finance engagements, including the identification and resolution of project issues prior to Partner review. Assume responsibilities for project execution and delivery to timelines, including management of other service lines.
    • Lead the development of existing and new service stream practices
    • Build strong and sustainable relationships with clients, both internal and external to BDO, establishing both a rapport and trust. Assume real ownership of client relationships and projects.
    • Demonstrate a clear understanding of clients’ businesses and industries.
    • Demonstrate technical expertise.
    • People management responsibilities including performance management, knowledge sharing, completion of appraisal documents, training and recommendations for promotion.
    • Act as a mentor to team members and provide coaching with a view to assisting them to achieve their personal career goals.
    • Communicate difficult or complex messages in a prompt and clear manner.
    • Act as a role model to team members.
    • Convert existing opportunities into future corporate finance work, and identify new project opportunities for Corporate Finance
    • Contribute and play an active role in the development of new business relationships, marketing and business proposals.
    • Demonstrate a clear understanding of firm products and cross-selling opportunities.
    • Seek and take action on feedback.
    • Deliver honest and timely feedback.

    You’ll be someone with:

    • ACA/ACCA qualified (or overseas equivalent), or relevant work experience. 
    • Experience of working within a corporate finance department.
    • Previous management experience.
    • Good knowledge of MS Office, in particular Word, Powerpoint and Excel.
    • For those involved in Capital Markets transactions a thorough knowledge of the relevant legislation

    Assistant Resourcing Manager

    Resourcing Teams are the heartbeat of our firm.

    They know what is going on in the ground, they know where we are headed and they can drive us forward to deliver our strategy.
    In this role you will focus on the allocation and prioritisation of resourcing needs for your business unit, including editing resourcing requests from multiple stakeholders across the business. The role will include regular tasks to be carried out as well as project work and ad hoc requests. The role is an important part of the business to provide an efficient, effective and professional resourcing coordination for the team.

    The resourcing team are responsible for not just ensuring optimum resource allocation and utilisation but also providing timely and accurate management information to various stakeholders by identifying shortfalls, booking clashes and inefficiencies to help in contingency planning and risk mitigation. 

    This is an important role in the firm as it enables us to appropriately resource the projects required to deliver a quality audit project and exceptional support service. Your main duties will involve but not be limited to:

    • Support the Resource Managers in day to day resourcing operations of your business units
    • Use our resource planner, Dayshape, to book trainees to jobs / study leave / college / training courses / holiday etc
    • Build effective relationships with the central resourcing team and the Project Managers to understand the needs in respect of resourcing for assignments
    • Act as a point of contact for the trainees, working with them to ensure allocation to jobs that support their objectives and career development
    • Familiarisation with the trainees’ professional qualification pathways so that these are considered when allocating resource
    • Work with People Managers and Resourcing Project Manager to support any performance issues, and notifying them if there are any issues or concerns related to staff and trainees
    • Work with Resourcing Manager to closely monitor metrics such as utilisation, capacity and demand and creating monthly reporting.
    • Own and ensure adoption of all resourcing policies in your area of remit
    • Identify solutions to manage resourcing conflicts/clashes effectively, liaising with the relevant managers in a timely manner
    • Support Business Support with absence approval, (e.g. holiday, sickness, TOIL, and study leave)
    • Consider skills needed for projects and match to resource skills when allocating assignments.
    • Ensure that the resource model accurately reflects any leaver and joiner movements.

    You’ll be someone with:

    • Experience in resource planning and management processes with exposure to tools and systems
    • Intermediate IT skills (MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint & Excel)
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Proven ability to operate under pressure with conflicting priorities, tight deadlines and demanding stakeholder needs
    • Ability to interpret and analyse MI and data to identify and solve problems
    • Continued professional development of yourself and others, seeking challenges and opportunities
    • Experience in a professional services firm (Desirable)
    • Previous experience of Dayshape (Desirable)
